Leadership Kaua`i is pleased to present 19 Pi`ina Hoku Youth Leadership and 22 Adult Leadership participants representing the class of 2008-2009.

2. Tee Off To Support Kaua`i

Leadership Kaua’i in partnership with Kaua’i United Way is collaborating to support a fundraising golf tournament on Saturday November 1st, 2008 at the Prince Golf Course. Net proceeds from this event  will benefit the continuance of Leadership Kaua’i and Kaua’i United Way programs.

Your donation of individual or team prizes, cash contributions, a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze tee sponsorship or sponsoring a team of four for the tournament at $125.00 per person would be greatly appreciated.

Platinum Sponsor: $1,000-Entry for two (4 person) teams, banner (provided by sponsor) at awards reception, mention in program, mention in mahalo advertisement and sign on tee of choice.

Gold Sponsor: $750-Entry for one (4 person) team, banner (provided by sponsor) at awards reception, mention in program, mention in mahalo advertisement and sign on tee of choice.

Silver Sponsor: $500-Mention in program, mention in mahalo advertisement and sign on tee.

Bronze Sponsor: $250-Sign on course.

20% of combined handicap

Maximum handicap: men 28 & women 36

Mulligans: Mulligans will be sold for $5 each at registration. Limit 5 mulligans per player

3. LK Launches Ka Ulu Pono Career Program
Leadership Kaua`i is excited to announce the start of Ka Ulu Pono, a career awareness program aimed at reinforcing Kaua`i’s six economic industry clusters determined by the Office of Economic Development. In an effort to reach as many in-school projects as possible, Leadership Kaua`i has committed to serving a total of seven in-school projects representing each of the six industry clusters and two additional high tech classes. The in-school projects representing Ka Ulu Pono this fiscal year are as follows:

  1. Kapa`a high school aquaculture project, food and agriculture industry
  2. Kapa`a high school health and wellness project, health and wellness industry
  3. Kaua`i high school east project, high technology industry
  4. Kaua`i high school bio-diesel project, renewable energy industry
  5. Island school first robotics project, high technology industry
  6. Island school dive club project, sports and recreation industry
  7. Waimea high school underwater ROV project, high technology industry
A total of $5,600 will be granted to each class to complete their project. To support each industries growth, investment into leadership and career development, industry guest speakers, and industry tours will be an aspect of the Ka Ulu Pono program.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Leadership Kaua`i’s new Program Director, Brenda Jose.  Brenda is a Leadership Kaua`i alumni from the class of 2008. Her new role as Program Director for Leadership Kaua`i enables her to provide services and support that can enrich Youth Career Awareness programs within our high schools and more.

5. New Term For New Board of Directors And “Leaders”

The success of every non-profit is largely due to the huge commitment volunteer board directors contribute to in overseeing an organizations’ and community initiatives.  Leadership Kaua`i has received overwhelming support from the community and we are thankful Kaua`i recognizes the need to fill our boards and commissions with inspired, educated and committed leaders.

Leadership Kaua`i would like to welcome our new 2008-2009 board directors, Diana Shaw, Kirk Nakamoto and Nathan Wood.  Also welcomed is our new Vice President/Treasurer, Janet Mayfield.  They join an esteemed group of supporters that continue to serve the needs of our growing organization.
