Ho`okanaka Award Nominations Deadline Extended to March 9

3/1/2012

Nominations have been streaming in at a steady rate, and we're thrilled with the level of interest everyone is showing to this new annual signature event for Leadership Kaua`i!

However, since this is the first time through the process, a number of people have had questions, so...   we've decided to extend the deadline to Friday, March 9 in order to allow everyone who wants to participate a chance to submit their nominations.  Here are some details:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Ways to Nominate*

1)  Submit online at http://thehookanakaawards.blogspot.com/, or
2)  Download the fillable form from the same website, and Fax or Email it to us.

Then, after all nominations are received, here's what happens:
  1. All Nominees will be notified that they were submitted to receive a Ho`okanaka Award,
  2. A committee will review all the applications and select the Top 20 finalists and the Top 10 Award Winners
  3. The 20 Finalists will be notified that they were selected as part of the Top 20, and will receive free attendance to the Awards Ceremony!
Of course, to keep things exciting, we won't divulge the Top 10 Winners until the ceremony itself...  just like at the Academy Awards or the Na Hokus!

In Addition to the Awards, there will be:
  • A no-host cocktail reception from 6 - 7pm,
  • An ono multi-course buffet meal,
  • live music and hula throughout the evening by a variety of great local performers, including Paul Togioka, Tommy Tokioka, Moani Serenaders, Halau Ka Lei Mokihana`O Leina`ala, and Kanak Attack - Darryl Gonzales & Koko Kaneali`i as seen on The Descendants, and
  • An opportunity to network with friends and leaders from all over Kaua`i!
Please visit http://thehookanakaawards.blogspot.com/ to purchase your tickets.

* Note:  Leadership Kaua`i Board and Staff members are not eligible to receive a Ho`okanaka Award.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office at 246-8727.

We hope to see you at the Awards Ceremony!
